Welcome to The Classic Boat Meet
Classic boat festival in honour of the Olympic Regatta 1912
Next year it will be 100 years since the Stockholm Olympics and we are going to celebrate that by an attempt to repeat the fantastic regatta in Nynäshamn.
In 1912 the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS) hosted the Olympic races in Nynäshamn 20-23 July where 20 yachts took part. Parallel with this they put on an international regatta for 120 yachts from several countries.
The Olympic classes were int. 12, 10, 8 and 6 metre according to the 6-year-old International Metre Rule. Each country could enter two boats in each class totaling 8 boats altogether. Sweden took part with seven boats, Finland with five, Norway and Russia with three each and Denmark and France with one boat each.

The International Regatta attracted 120 boats from the countries mentioned above, plus one German boat. The largest boat was the int. 15m yacht Sophie Elisabeth and the smallest four 22 sq. m. skerry cruisers.
The class with the largest number of entrants was the 45 sq.m. class with 15 boats among which was the overall winner Maj-Britt from Norrköping. On the 23rd of July all the competitors sailed on to Sandhamn for further festivities and next summer 2012 the races will take place on nearly the same days, 19-24 July. We are expecting several of the 1912 boats to turn out in Nynäshamn in the summer!
From now you can return a preliminary entry and at the same time register for our newsletter, the simplest way is by using the Registration Page.
Classic Boat Meet is arranged by The Swedish Classic Boat Society in collaboration with the Nynäshamn Yacht Club and Nynäshamn´s local authority.
